Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering, An Introduction to Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer: With Applications in Chemical and Mechanical Process Engineering (out of print, written by one of my lecturers). Introductory texts to Gas Processing would be John M Campbell’s Gas Conditioning and Processing V. 1: The Basic Principles, Gas Conditioning and Processing V. 2: The Equipment Modules, which you get if you attend the course.

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:
- First off, Synergy is looking for 5 lead safety engineers and 3 lead process engineers. Visit the Synergy website for contact details. And safety specialists. Ah, heck. If you have more than 5 years experience in O&G, apply. If you have less than 5, send a donation to the offshore account, and still get abuse.
- Shell has a full page advert, looking for graduates in engineering and chemistry. Go visit http://www.shell.com/careers. Looks like there’s a shell recruitment day coming up soon.
- Newfield has a full page advertisement looking for a snr reservoir eng, senior process eng, mech eng, completion eng, HSE eng, E&I eng, struct eng, offshore installation eng. Email your resume in before 30th July. And their HR manager last week said they weren’t recruiting process engineers…
- Talisman is looking for a Reservoir Technical Support Eng. Apply here, and visit their site.

SapuraCrest Petroleum Bhd has won a contract worth US$825 million (RM3 billion) for installation works at the Gumusut-Kakap field, about 200km offshore Sabah.
The field is located in 1,200m water depth.
The contract from Sabah Shell Petroleum Co Ltd will be executed over three years, beginning this year, SapuraCrest told Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:
- Shell are looking for ideas people. They want engineers of a disciplines, with a B.Sc or Master’s in the related field. If you want to apply, send a buzz to here. Send your submissions in before March 1, 2009.
- There’s a company looking for electrical engineers. You can apply here, or fax resume to +603-56315378. The number seems to indicate the office isn’t far from Synergy’s. Website’s under construction. Responses in before February 15, 2009.
- RasGas is looking for well operations coordinator, flow assurance coordinator (maybe Synergy should look into that), technicians, operators. CVs to be submitted here. You can phone the local recruiters at +603 2078 1918. I believe RasGas is a JV, one of the partners being ExxonMobil.
- Talisman is looking for an Operations Star-Up engineer. This must be for Bunga Orkid -A.
- There’s an advert by the Oval group for senior sales engineer, and sales & application engineers. Send your applications here. I believe I’ve looked at their products in the past. - SGS is looking for a Sampling / PVT engineer, flow assurance engineer (hey, I’m breaking into that market!) and new chem engineers. - Petrofac is looking for a deputy production manager. Sounds like an EMEPMI facilities engineer to me, though I hope the pay is better. - Shell wants you to come to a open day. Catch is, you have to invited, and you get invited by sending in your CV to SPS-AsiaXPRecruit@sheel.com. Oct 6th’s the closing date. Positions available are Instr, Elect, Subsea, Drill and Well, Struc, Process & Material, Resv, Project.
- Murphy is looking for a deputy production manager, and a reliability engineer. CVs to be submitted here.
- Titan Chemicals has a mess of jobs up for grabs.
- Optimal is looking for a Kerteh-based Reliability and Electrical Engineer. Email and web presence available. A lot of people moved to Optimal when it first started up, though I think the renumeration package isn’t as good nowadays. However, it’s still better than PETRONAS because Dow Chemicals is running interference.

Sorry for skipping a week. I was out of town. My next few post will have some photos I took on my trip.

- Optimal is looking for a Kerteh-based Chemist. Emailand web presence available. A lot of people moved to Optimal when it first started up, though I think the renumeration package isn’t as good nowadays. However, it’s still better than PETRONAS because Dow Chemicals is running interference.
- ExxonMobil is looking for a safe/ risk engineer. Submit CVs by 20th Sept, 2008 at the local web page.
- Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) is looking for a senior project, process control, process consultant and senior safety engineer. There is a walk in interview on the 18th to 22nd October, 2008 (tempting, tempting) at the JW Marriot, between 0900 to 1700. You can apply via email here.
- MISC has some positions, though with the recent hijackings, they might expect a drop of takers.
- Shell is looking for some downhole people and well people: Offshore Completion and Intervention Supervisor, Offshore Drilling Supervisor, Well Completion Design Engineer, Well Eng, Well Opns Eng.
