Three more firms shortlisted to bid for Newfield assets

Now, since the head of PETROFAC is in charge of Vestigo, any ideas who’s the winner among the contenders?

Dateline 2013-08-26, The Star:

SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd, Talisman and Petrofac have been shortlisted for the second round of Newfield Exploration Co’s oil and gas assets in Malaysia and China, said sources close to the deal.

Last week, Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd confirmed that it had been shortlisted for this two-round bidding process, where the second-round bids are expected to be submitted by Sept 26. The source added that the results for the winning bidder should be known by year-end. Goldman Sachs Group Inc is the investment banker mandated to manage this bidding process. It would appear that only a handful of companies out of the 65 companies that had initially expressed interest for Newfield’s assets worth some US$1.7bil have been selected for the second round.

Petronas announces successful drilling at biggest oilfield

FMT, dateline 2013-05-02:

Petronas, the national oil company, today announced the successful drilling of the Cendor Graben-2 appraisal well within Block PM304, offshore Peninsular Malaysia.

In a statement here, Petronas said the well was drilled to a depth of over 1,000 metres and confirmed the presence of oil and some gas-bearing reservoirs.

Drilling was undertaken by Petrofac (Malaysia PM304) Ltd, the operator for Block PM304, together with joint-venture partners Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company and PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation Ltd.

Petrofac Awarded US$220 million Refurbishment Project in Malaysia

I was wondering when the report will come out, as to how you get a fire in a supposedly depressurised, offline platform.

Dateline 2012-05-22:

Petrofac Facilities Management Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd (Petrofac), part of the Petrofac Group, has been awarded a US$220 million contract by PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of PETRONAS, the Malaysian national oil company, for the refurbishment of the Bekok-C platform, located in Block PM9 in the south-eastern part of the Malay basin. The project will be executed on an engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) alliance basis and is valued at US$220 million.

Bekok-C is a manned platform serving as a gas processing and compression hub exporting gas from the Guntong, Tiong and Bekok fields of Block PM9 in addition to production of crude oil and gas from its own wells. Under the terms of the refurbishment project Petrofac will provide EPCIC services to the platform with the overall project expected to be completed in around 15 months.
