Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:
- First off, Synergy is looking for 5 lead safety engineers and 3 lead process engineers. Visit the Synergy website for contact details. And safety specialists. Ah, heck. If you have more than 5 years experience in O&G, apply. If you have less than 5, send a donation to the offshore account, and still get abuse.
- Dialog Group is looking for electrical/instrument and control engineers. Send an email here or snail mail to Human Resources Department, Dialog Group of Companies, 109, Block G, Phileo Damansara 1, No. 9, Jalan 16/11, 46350.
- Technip, with the tagline ‘Engineer a Successful Career, is looking for graduates for a piping designer position. Visit here soon. Interestingly enough, you can ask the Selangor Human Resource Development Centre as well (isn’t Technip in KL?). Since sooo many people ask, here’s the basic requirements:
- Degree in Mech, Pet or ChemEng
- Min CGPA of 2.5 or 2-2 or better.
- Ability to speak and write fluently in English. Oh, please let me be the judge of this.
- < 28 yrs.
- Qatar is seeking helicopter crews! There’s another start to deteriorating chopper services in Malaysia. I’d take this with a pinch of salt, as you are supposed to send your CVs to K18S@hotmail.com , or ghaaah@hotmail.com
- Our favourite Saudi recruiter, SABIC, is at it again. Saudi Yanbu Petrochem Company (YAMPET, there’s something you don’t say in polite company) is looking for a polymer process eng (challenging), ethylene process eng, operator – utils, operator – offsite. Arabian Industrial Fibres Co – Ibn Rushd is looking for a PET process eng, PP process eng, PDH process eng, process control eng, PDH specialist, Instrument eng. You can apply via email here.

I think you can infer all sorts of things from the email address alone.

- OTEC Kemajuan, Advance Gas Turbine Solutions Sdn. Bhd and Rolls Wood OTEC are looking for people. Let’s see, OTEC is looking for field service representatives, assistant project engineers and customer support engineers, RWO is looking for assistant project engineers, and AGTS is looking for field service representatives. You’ll have to email in to OTEC, AGTS and RWO respectively.
- Talisman is looking for a Subsea Inspections engineer.

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:
- Shell are looking for ideas people. They want engineers of a disciplines, with a B.Sc or Master’s in the related field. If you want to apply, send a buzz to here. Send your submissions in before March 1, 2009.
- There’s a company looking for electrical engineers. You can apply here, or fax resume to +603-56315378. The number seems to indicate the office isn’t far from Synergy’s. Website’s under construction. Responses in before February 15, 2009.
- RasGas is looking for well operations coordinator, flow assurance coordinator (maybe Synergy should look into that), technicians, operators. CVs to be submitted here. You can phone the local recruiters at +603 2078 1918. I believe RasGas is a JV, one of the partners being ExxonMobil.
- Talisman is looking for an Operations Star-Up engineer. This must be for Bunga Orkid -A.
- There’s an advert by the Oval group for senior sales engineer, and sales & application engineers. Send your applications here. I believe I’ve looked at their products in the past. As next week is the month of Ramadhan, I wish all readers a fruitful and fulfilling month.
Back to our regular program. Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:
- Wow! Talisman’s got a two page coloured spread! I guess they are tired of contracting out what should be in house jobs. Let’s see (deep breath): Opns Eng, Snr Integrity Eng (Materials, not Ethics), Integrity Eng, Subsea Insp Eng, Snr Prod Chem Specialist, Pipe/Mech Eng, Maint Systems Eng, Metering Eng (hey, I thought they had one already, just saw him on Friday), Rot Eqt Eng (they lost one of their last ones to CHOC, I believe). Visit their website if you are interested in the positions, and many more.
- Qatargas is looking for engineers and operators, interviews scheduled for mid-Sept, 2008. The engineering positions are under the Development (i.e. Projects) Dept. You can inquire and apply via email here. They do have positions for Controls Eng, Facilities/Process Eng, Metering Eng (Way hay again!)
- Why does Talisman have another advert for a Senior Completions Eng? Are various departments not talking to each other? Bad sign for the company, good sign for contractors, all the more chaos and FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) to feed off.
- The Grenland Group is advertising for Senior Engineers, Stuct/Piping. Email here.
I put in a free advert for my favourite chicken rice place, Chee Meng. Go, people, go! I’m waiting for their loyalty card to come out. If you want to meet me, I’m usually there most Wed lunches. BTW, anyone been to the nasi kandar in the Sungai Wang rooftop foodcourt lately? It’s still there, with the cheap meals I love so much.
