Abstract:
The presentation will illustrate some examples of the development of new innovations from chemical and engineering research that have lead to new businesses focused each with distinctive environmental benefits.The innovations enable ‘washing without water’, production of bricks with ultra low carbon footprint, the creation of new efficient and safer methods for chemical and nuclear plant decommissioning. The talk illustrates the principle that fundament research can create significant value to society and that such eco-innovations demand rather different routes to market and use than conventional innovations. 
 
The prospect and special opportunities for adoption of such ecoinnovation in Malaysia is illustrated. The role of chemical and process engineers in addressing these opportunities are to be discussed.The talk should be of interest to professional engineers and students studying chemical/process engineering.

    hey, I just found out the “champion” is the chairman of M’sia IChemE.

    A food for thought….

    Why only the following universities in M’sia is accredited?

    Curtin University of Technology (Sarawak Campus)
    Malaya, University of
    Universiti Putra Malaysia
    University of Nottingham in Malaysia
    Universiti Sains Malaysia
    Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS
    Universiti Teknologi MARA

    I believe either they are in accreditation process, or they do not offer chemical engineering. Maybe wata can give a comment or two…..
