Where is this extended pipeline? Kelantan? Johor?

Gas Malaysia Bhd has officially secured contracts for more than 80% of the additional natural gas volume that is coming on stream next year.
Gas Malaysia managing director Datuk Muhammad Noor Hamid said most of the 40 million standard cu ft per day (mmscfd) increased allocation by Petronas next year had been allocated for new customers and existing ones that were undertaking expansion of their facilities.
“The volume of gas is just waiting to be delivered via our extended pipeline. Some of the pipelines are in the midst of construction while some are in the design process. The target is to make sure we complete these pipelines as quickly as possible so that when the gas become available by Jan 1, we can deliver it to our customers,” he told StarBiz.

Opportunities abound

Gas Malaysia Bhd, which made a strong debut on the main market of Bursa Malaysia yesterday, plans to start discussions with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) soon for additional supply of gas after 2016, said its managing director Datuk Muhamad Noor Hamid.
“At the moment, we have not discussed with Petronas. Our plan is to have discussion with them soon for additional volume of gas coming from the liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Pengerang, Johor, which is expected to be operational in 2016,” Muhamad Noor told reporters after the company’s listing.

Gas Malaysia Bhd’s new industrial customers will have to pay double the gas price once the sole licensed operator and distributor of natural gas in Peninsular Malaysia starts selling at market prices, beginning 2013.
Its managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Muhamad Noor Hamid said the market price will apply to the additional 110 million metric British thermal units (mmBtu) of gas it will purchase from Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) with 40mmBtu to be stepped up 2013, 30mmBtu in 2014 and 40mmBtu in 2015.
“The 40mmbtu step up volume has almost been fully committed,” he told reporters after Gas Malaysia’s listing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Main Market-bound Gas Malaysia Bhd’s saw a 53.5% drop in its net profit for the first quarter ended March 31 to RM34.54mil from RM74.41mil a year earlier as a margin compression crimped earnings.
Its revenue increased 9.2% to RM506.58mil from RM464.06mil, said the company, which is scheduled for a listing on Monday.
In a statement to Bursa Malaysia, it said the rise in revenue in its natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) segment RM506.6mil from RM464mil last year mainly due to the higher volume of gas sold and an upward revision in tariff effective June 1, 2011.

Gas Malaysia Bhd (Gas Malaysia) the sole licenced distributor of natural gas in Peninsular Malaysia launched its prospectus yesterday pursuant to its initial public offering (IPO) of 333.840 million offer shares, in conjunction with its listing on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd on June 11, 2012.
Gas Malaysia’s IPO comprises an offer for sale of 303.315 million offer shares to institutional and selected investors and Bumiputera institutional and selected investors approved by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) at the institutional price which will be determined by way of book building.
The remaining 30.525 million offer shares will be offered to the general public in Malaysia, eligible directors and employees of Gas Malaysia at the indicative retail price of RM2.20 per offer share.

How about attracting foreign investors, then have PETRONAS charge market rates for gas?

Its position as the sole licensed operator and distributor of natural gas in Peninsular Malaysia and a high dividend payout policy are among factors attracting investors to Gas Malaysia Bhd.
The debt-free company, with small capital expenditure requirements for the next few years, expects to pay out as dividends its entire consolidated after tax profit for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2012.

The three major shareholders of Gas Malaysia Bhd will receive a total of RM734mil from the sale of their shares in the former’s impending initial public offering (IPO).
Gas Malaysia’s IPO will entail only an offer of sale of 333.8 million shares at RM2.20 a piece.
The three main owners of Gas Malaysia stock are MMC-Shapadu (Holdings) Sdn Bhd (55%), Tokyo Gas-Mitsui & Co Holdings Sdn Bhd (25%) and Petronas Gas Bhd (20%). The three will rake in RM403mil, RM183.6mil and RM146.8mil respectively from the sale of Gas Malaysia shares.

Gas Malaysia Bhd is expected to debut on the Malaysian bourse on June 11, a source with direct knowledge of the listing told Reuters, after it obtained approval on Monday from Malaysia’s Securities Commission to register its listing prospectus.
The planned listing of the country’s sole supplier of natural gas to the non-power sector was originally scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2011, but was delayed due to non-compliance with the commission’s rules.

Gas Malaysia Bhd, a unit of MMC Corp Bhd, which is scheduled to list by the second quarter of this year, has signed a new gas supply agreement with Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) to supply up to 492 million standard cu ft per day (mmscfd) of natural gas.
The tenure of the agreement is 10 years, from Jan 1, 2013 to Dec 31, 2022, with the option to extend for another five years.
