Petroleum Dealers Ask Gov’t To Release Fuel Prices In Advance To Association

August 4, 2017

Dateline 2017-06-21, Malaysian Digest:

The Petroleum Dealers Association of Malaysia (PDAM) is suggesting for the government to release the retail fuel prices to the association, two days before the weekly fuel prices are announced.

Its president Datuk Khairul Annuar said this is to allow petroleum dealers to bargain for a better price of fuel accordingly with the petroleum producers.

“We got this idea from our Moroccan counterparts during a conference with international petroleum dealers yesterday. We hope we can emulate their method.

“We can accept the system where the retail prices of petroleum and diesel is set every Wednesday. But, we hope we can get the information on the price change two days prior, which is on Monday.

Get back Sabah oil rights, says MA63 activist

August 3, 2017

Dateline 2017-06-17, FMT:

A Sabahan activist says there is no reason – not even low global oil prices – for the Sabah government to not pursue oil and gas rights belonging to the state.

In an interview with FMT, Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) activist, Zainnal Ajamain said the Federal Constitution had clearly outlined the state’s oil and gas rights including the collection of export tax on crude petroleum, oil royalties and ownership of oil fields.

State rights especially in relation to oil and gas, have always been a sore point for Sabahans and Sarawakians.

In recent times, the Sarawak government, which has pledged to pursue its request for higher oil and gas royalty, has put on hold further talks with Putrajaya until global crude oil prices – which plunged from US$107 per barrel in January 2014 to US$52 per barrel three years later – recover.

Saturday Star 2017-07-29 – Job Opportunities

July 31, 2017

Happy need a new PO week. IGL has pivoted into training, so book your seats now.

We’re thinking of republishing Young Turks of PETRONAS, but it’s a minimum 500 book printing run. Do I have enough interested persons to purchase?

Donate to your favorite charity (me), buy my recommendations, or through my Amazon store. Or get the Young Turks series (3 books until I can get YTP republished). Where are those corporate sponsors? Or throw donations at me, my camera dive case flooded, and I need a new replacement. Heck, if you want to send me a Canon 5D Mk III plus dive case, I will not say no.

  • I have a feeling that The Star isn’t the preferred O&G job recruitment portal now, and they have moved adverts to another online presence (I bought a dead tree edition this week). I see more adverts via social media. What do you think, is it a step change that the papers need to embrace?
  • I’m looking for jobs for 4Q2017. Send me your POs.

Food choice of the week? Anything before 7pm, I seem to be getting heartburn.

Book choice of this week, Chemical Engineering Process Simulation, authors are Nishanth Chemmangattuvalappil Denny Ng Kok Sum Rafil Elyas Cheng-Liang ChenI,Lung Chien Hao-Yeh Lee. I intend to get a signed first edition, and place it in my Charles Dickens first edition cabinet.

Sarawak state government to set up oil company

July 29, 2017

Dateline 2017-06-11, The Malay Mail:

The Sarawak government is planning to establish a state-owned offshore oil and gas exploration company in order to participate in the industry, said Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said the plan was discussed with national oil corporation, Petronas, which was very receptive to the idea of the state-owned company partaking in upstream and downstream oil and gas exploration activities.

“I had discussions with Petronas, we are adopting a new approach.

“Sarawak will participate in both upstream and downstream oil and gas activities.

“In the upstream sector, this will be Sarawak’s maiden venture, as such, we need to set up a state-owned company in order to join Petronas in oil and gas exploration in the South China Sea.

Petronas’ stake sale of offshore gas asset advances to second round: sources

July 28, 2017

I don’t know why this item has been so hyped up. Isn’t this the usual way acreage is bid out?

Dateline 2017-06-05, Reuters:

The sale by Malaysian energy firm Petronas of an estimated $1 billion stake in a local upstream gas project has moved to the second round and is set to attract interest from about half a dozen bidders including Royal Dutch Shell and ExxonMobil Corp, four sources familiar with the matter said.

State-owned Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) had kicked off a process to sell a stake of up to 49 percent in the SK316 offshore gas block in Malaysia’s Sarawak state, Reuters reported in February.

Prospective buyers are expected to submit second round financial bids this month, and a final decision on the successful bidder is expected later this year, said two sources.

If Malaysia stopped producing oil right now, would it affect oil prices?

July 27, 2017

Dateline 2017-06-07, Your Oil & Gas News:

Getting oil prices to a more stable state is something that has become a real concern in recent times. Oil supply and demand has been out of balance for some time now for a number of reasons, including some major domestic oil users switching to a heavier reliance on natural gas, and increases in oil production in some regions. A supply glut is problematic for the entire oil industry, and causes prices to become low.
