OVERVIEW OF CENTRIFUGAL PUMP BASIC PRINCIPLES: THE THEORY AND APPLICATION shall provide the audience with the knowledge and principles of pump design, sizing, selection and performance analysis. The talk will explore the overview of basic theory and the application of the pump in the industry. The talk will be beneficial to engineers dealing with pump and will be presented in a way that is comprehensible to the engineers who are with or without the oil and gas background. The objectives of the talk are to provide exposure to the audiences on understanding of fundamental design of centrifugal pump and impact on its application.
Centrifugal pump in the oil and gas industry is a ‘must equipment’ on every plant/site and talk will answer questions that many people have, such as how important this equipment onboard, understanding the requirement and criticality of the pump within the whole system and matching those to the correct pump selection. Some highlights of the talk are back to fundamental of mathematical modeling of the centrifugal pump on various aspects of its parameters, type and material selection. These are the major factors in ensuring the selected pump match the required performance as well as the ensuring the reliability of the pump.
Ir. Hassanazhari Ahdi has been in the oil and gas industry for 25 years working for companies such as Technip, TPVN, KPOC and SDE. His core expertise is in design works, erection, testing, hook-up and commissioning. Currently, he is an independent consultant providing consultancy for various design office. He was a graduate of University of Malaya with a degree in Mechanical and Masters in Engineering from UTM. He has served many major Oil and Gas Company local and abroad such as PETRONAS, SHELL, EXXON-MOBIL, QATAR PETROLEUM, QATAR MEARSK OIL, TOTAL, CONOCO-PHILIPSs and CUU LONG.
His experience covers several major onshore/offshore of turnkey project started from proposal, FEED, detailed design, erection, pre-commissioning/commissioning until handover to operation. Projects involved such as Polyethylene Plant, PVC Plant, Cabot Semi-Scale plant, BP-Amoco PTA Plant, MOQ BG-BA Platform, KPOC Platform etc. Beside green field his experience covers brown field too on retrofitting, debottlenecking of offshore platform and onshore plant.
He has delivered lecture for Executive Diploma student at UTM covering mechanical discipline which syllabus tailored to specific application to oil and gas industries.
