Petra Energy Continues Banang Offshore Field Ops for Petronas

Petra Energy Berhad has secured a contract extension with Petronas for production, operation, and maintenance services at the Banang offshore oil field. The agreement runs until August 6, 2024.

Its scope under the extension includes the provision of production, storage, and offloading facilities; well and reservoir surveillance; production planning and forecasting; routine operations and maintenance; logistics; and inventory and warehousing. Financial details were not disclosed.

Sarawak govt endorses Petros award of oil exploration to Petra Energy

 The state government has endorsed the conditional award by state-owned Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) for Sarawak onshore block SK 433 to Petra Energy Development Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Petra Energy, and its joint venture partner, Uzma Engineering Sdn Bhd,  a wholly-owned subsidiary of Uzma Berhad.

In a statement today, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said the award is the result of a competitive bidding exercise that was managed by Petros since January this year.

The CMO said this is a significant milestone for Sarawak as it looks forward to the resumption of active exploration and production activities onshore.

Petra Energy ventures into oilfield operations

OIL and gas (O&G) outfit Petra Energy Bhd announced last week that its wholly-owned unit Petra Energy Development Sdn Bhd had been awarded a US$40 million (RM170 million) contract from national oil company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) for a two-year technical service agreement.

The contract, which entails “the continuation of [production] in the Banang field”, places Petra among the few local companies with the expertise to operate oil fields. The others include Petronas’ wholly-owned Vestigo Petroleum Sdn Bhd and O&G giants Sapura Energy Bhd and Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd.
