July 1, 2014

Dateline 2014-05-08, Offshore Magazine:

Lundin Petroleum says its Bertam oil field development offshore Peninsular Malaysia is on schedule for start-up in spring 2015.

The field, in the PM307 block, will be developed using a 20 slot wellhead platform alongside the spread-moored IkdamFPSO.

Development drilling will start this summer. Lundin plans 13 horizontal wells and one deviated well completed with electrical submersible pumps.

TH Heavy Engineering is building the platform at its yard in Pulau Indah, close to Kuala Lumpur. The jacket is expected to be installed offshore this summer, followed by the topside during 4Q.

Petronas okays Lundin Malaysia’s Bertam oil development

December 12, 2013

Dateline 2013-10-10, Oil & Gas Journal:

Petronas has approved the Bertam oil field development plan for Lundin Malaysia BV, the first Lundin-operated development project in Malaysia.

The development plan, which Lundin Malaysia submitted in July, looks toward drilling in 2014 and a production start in 2015. Proved and probable reserves total 17 million bbl of oil, and peak production is pegged at 15,000 b/d.

Lundin Malaysia will develop Bertam using a 20-slot wellhead platform in 76 m of water on the 6,126 sq km PM 307 block adjacent to a spread-moored floating production, storage, and offloading vessel. The subsurface development concept consists of 14 horizontal production wells completed with electric submersible pumps.

Gross capital investment associated with the development is $400 million excluding costs related to the FPSO. Working interests are Lundin Malaysia 75% and Petronas Carigali 25%.

Lundin Petroleum discovers oil offshore Malaysia

March 21, 2013

Dateline 2013-03-11, Oil & Gas Financial Journal:

Lundin Petroleum has discovered oil in the Ara-1 well that was drilled in Block PM308A, offshore Peninsular Malaysia.

Ara-1 was drilled to a total depth of 13,221 feet by the jackup West Courageous (350′ ILC) in 246 feet water depth. The objective of the well was to target the extension of the Paleogene intra-rift oil sands that had been encountered in the Janglau-1 well drilled by Lundin in 2011.

Ara-1 encountered 9 thin oil-bearing sands in a high-pressured intra-rift section extending over a vertical interval of 2,624 feet.

The well confirmed the extension of the new intra-rift oil play across a very large structural complex in the northeast of PM308A below a major regional seal. The well also found effective sand reservoirs at depths below 11,482 feet. The oil pay zones intersected by Ara-1 were however individually thinner than pre drill expectation.

Lundin Remains Bullish on Malaysia Oil and Gas Sector

February 6, 2013

Dateline 2013-01-29:

Having made several discoveries at fields offshore Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah this year, Lundin Petroleum AB remains bullish on Malaysia’s oil and gas sector.

“We remain very optimistic about the Malaysian oil and gas industry and plan to continue to evaluate new opportunities and grow wherever possible,” Lundin Petroleum head of corporate communications Maria Hamilton told Business Times.

On Lundin Petroleum’s capital expenditure in Malaysia for this year, Hamilton said:

“We plan to immediately commence our activities and will only make a decision on drilling and capital investment once we have sufficient time to fully evaluate the new data.”

Lundin Petroleum recently announced that it had been awarded the licence by Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) to operate a new block, Block PM319, offshore Peninsular Malaysia.

Lundin Petroleum expands Peninsular Malaysia core area

December 18, 2012

Dateline 2012-12-06:

Lundin Petroleum AB (“Lundin Petroleum”) is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Lundin Malaysia BV, has signed a new production sharing contract (PSC) with PETRONAS covering block PM319, offshore Peninsular Malaysia.

Block PM319 covers an area of approximately 8,400 km2 and is located west of  Block PM307 where Lundin Petroleum and PETRONAS Carigali have achieved success during 2012 with the appraisal of the Bertam oil field and the discovery of gas with the Tembakau-1 well.

The area has very limited 3D coverage and work commitments include a full tensor gravity survey, 550 km2 of 3D seismic and one wildcat exploration well. A number of leads have been identified on 2D seismic data.
