Luas confirms palm oil residue spill off Sungai Gombak

PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) has confirmed a palm oil residue spill following an accident between a palm oil tanker and fuel tanker at Km37.1 on the Karak Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur this morning.

Luas said following the accident at around 8am, it had been communicating with highway concessionaire AFA Prime Bhd for immediate action to contain the pollutants.

Gas Malaysia Energy Advance seals 15-year energy supply agreement with FGV IFFCO

GAS Malaysia Energy Advance Sdn Bhd (GMEA), a joint venture entity between Gas Malaysia Berhad and Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation, has formalised a 15-year Energy Supply Agreement (ESA) with FGV IFFCO Sdn Bhd (FISB). 

The official signing ceremony took place on Aug 27, 2025 at the Glenmarie Hotel and Golf Resort and was attended by representatives from both organisations.

First of four wells in drilling campaign offshore Suriname checked off the list

Petronas Suriname, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s state-owned oil and gas company Petronas, has crossed the finish line for the first well in a multi-well drilling campaign off the coast of Suriname.

Petronas’ partner and Suriname’s national oil company (NOC), Staatsolie Maatschappij Suriname (Staatsolie), has confirmed the completion of the drilling of the Caiman-1 exploration well in Block 52, which covers approximately 4,750 square kilometers in water depths ranging from 60 to 1,000 meters and lies about 140 kilometers offshore from Suriname’s coast.


Hibiscus associate pauses gas drilling after higher-than-expected pressure in well off Australia

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 29): Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd’s associate has paused drilling at the Charlemont-1 exploration well off Australia after encountering gas at a shallower-than-planned depth.

3D Energi Ltd, a 7.43%-owned associate of Hibiscus, disclosed to the Australian Securities Exchange that gas was intersected in the Waarre C formation around 160 metres above the primary target reservoir, Waarre A.

Gas Malaysia announces higher gas distribution tariff

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 26): Gas Malaysia Bhd said on Friday that it has raised the base average tariff for its natural gas distribution system to RM1.880 per gigajoule (GJ) per day.

The tariff will take effect under the third regulatory period (RP3), spanning Jan 1, 2026 to Dec 31, 2028, said Gas Malaysia, which operates natural gas pipelines and sells liquefied petroleum gas.

Dec 24 (Reuters) – Malaysian state-owned energy firm Petroliam Nasional said on Wednesday it would supply Chinese offshore oil and gas company CNOOC with 1 million metric tons per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The agreement between Petronas LNG and CNOOC Gas and Power Singapore Trading & Marketing builds upon existing cooperation between the two companies, Petronas said in a statement.
