Sunway Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality division of Malaysian conglomerate Sunway Group, partners with FatHopes Energy for the recycling of its used cooking oil into biodiesel, taking another significant step on its commitment towards a sustainable environment. Through this sustainability initiative, more than fifty percent (50%) of the participating Sunway Hotels’ used cooking oil is expected to be recycled and collected by FatHopes Energy on a weekly basis at the hotels’ respective collection centres to be converted into biodiesel.

Petronas to continue pushing for gas usage in future

Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) will continue to push the use of gas as a cleaner source of fuel, compared with solid and liquid fuels.

Its senior vice president (corporate strategy) Mazuin Ismail said this was one of the moves to make sure that the group was working towards placing the right energy mix for the future.

He said gas would also be complementing renewable energy resources as it was abundant, flexible, stable and easy to be transported and reached.

The Sarawak Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) today made it clear that the state government has not dropped its 20 per cent demand on oil royalties from the federal government as reported by local news portals.

“This office wishes to clarify that the state government has not dropped the demand and that current negotiations with the federal government are based on that demand,” the CMO said in a statement.

Malaysia’s Sarawak to drop demand for Petronas royalty hike

Malaysia’s energy-rich state of Sarawak will drop a demand for quadrupling royalties paid by energy giant Petronas but is pushing for production-sharing and other agreements, a key negotiator told Reuters on Wednesday.

Sarawak and neighbouring Sabah possess Malaysia’s most prolific oil and gas reserves in their waters in the South China Sea.

Their longstanding royalty demand would cost government-owned Petronas up to $7 billion a year, according to a rough calculation by a person aware of the matter.

ExxonMobil exiting Malaysia to focus on Permian Basin

EXXONMOBIL Corp has confirmed that it is testing market interest in its upstream offshore assets in Malaysia as part of an ongoing evaluation and its plan to divest US$15 billion of its non-strategic properties by 2021.

However, Sukiman Mohamed, spokesperson for its Malaysian subsidiary, says no agreements have been reached and no buyer has been identified so far for the assets.

Domestic Trade Minister assures security of petrol subsidy data

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail gives his assurance that the Petrol Subsidy Programme (PSP) banking leakage problem has been solved and his ministry has tightened the security of its system for data protection.

He also said that the corrective measures had been taken on its official portal for fuel subsidy recipients within hours after the news reports of a leak was reported on Thursday.
