IN line with its vision to establish Johor as a sustainable, world-class downstream oil and gas hub, Johor Petroleum Development Corp Bhd (JPDC) has established the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC) in Pengerang, Johor – 93 sq km industrial area dedicated for downstream oil and gas activities.
PIPC serves as an ideal zone to grow downstream oil and gas activities in Johor, given its strategic location with sufficient water depth for sea transportation of crude oil and liquid products, proximity to international shipping lanes, closeness to Singapore – an established trading centre for oil and gas products, as well as infrastructure to support downstream oil and gas activities.

Who the heck is Big Oil Ventures?

UK independent Upland Resources, Malaysia’s Big Oil Ventures (BOV) and state government-owned Petroleum Sarawak (Petros) have teamed up to study the hydrocarbon potential of Block SK 334 onshore Sarawak, East Malaysia.
The trio have signed a joint technical study agreement for the approximate 6685-square kilometre tract in the north of the state, with the work being performed by Upland and BOV.
Upland confirmed that the main objectives of the joint technical study are to de-risk the petroleum system elements and improve understanding of the prospectivity in Block SK334, as well as assess the hydrocarbon potential of Block SK 334, delineate prospective areas and identify leads and prospects.

Shell Plc (SHEL.L) on Monday said it would invest with Malaysian state oil firm Petronas to develop the Rosmari-Marjoram gas fields in the Southeast Asian country’s waters.
The Rosmari-Marjoram fields are situated 220 km (136.7 miles) off the coast of Bintulu in the Malaysian state of Sarawak.
The project is designed to produce 800 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, with gas production expected to start in 2026, Shell said in a statement.

Malaysian companies working on the Kasawari gas project in the South China Sea were among the targets of cyberattacks by Beijing-backed hackers.
Citing new research from cybersecurity firm Proofpoint and consulting firm PwC, energy portal Oilprice.com on Tuesday (Aug 30) said hacking group Red Ladon, also known as TA423, is using a simple phishing scam to attack politically significant targets in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, including defence contractors, infrastructure, and law firms involved in diplomatic disputes.
The scam sees victims lured in by fake news websites that infect targets’ computers with malicious software, called ScanBox, that lets hackers gather information for reconnaissance purposes.

Malaysia’s national upstream company Petronas Carigali has wrapped up negotiations with Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority (MTJA)that see acreages rejigged and the company commit to delivering increased volumes of gas to both Asean neighbours.
Petronas and the MTJA have reached an agreement and have received the relevant approvals from the Malaysian and Thai governments to annex the Block B-17 and Block C-19 production sharing contracts and Block B-17-02 (Open Area) into the Block B-17-01 PSC.
Block B-17-01 PSC comes with a 10-year production period extension until 2039, under the terms of the annexation agreement.

Petronas has approved the South Furious 30 Water Flood Phase 2 project in the North Sabah production sharing contract offshore Malaysia, according to partner Hibiscus Energy.
This involves drilling of six water injectors and five oil infill wells at the South Furious 30 Field, the aims being to increase production and reserves recovery via pressure support from water injection and sweep into existing and new oil producers.

On 23 August 2022, Petronas informed it kicked off the development of a gas delivery facility at Tanjung Kidurong, Bintulu, that will, from next year, supply natural gas to SPSB and SEB.
The Bintulu Additional Gas Sales Facility (BAGSF-2) is designed with a capacity to deliver up to 390 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd).
The facility will deliver 160 MMscfd of LNG to a Sarawak Government-owned methanol plant, which will be operated by SPSB. The methanol plant is currently under construction at Tanjung Kidurong. Another 70 MMscfd will be supplied to Sarawak Energy Bhd’s Tanjung Kidurong Power plant. The remaining capacity will allow the facility to supply future customers.
