C’mon. Buy my recommendations, or through my Amazon store. Where are those corporate sponsors? Or throw donations at me.

If you need my help to submit your CVs, donate to the blog, and I’ll review your CV to see if it is worthy of my (and my associates’) expectations. If you can’t figure out how to donate, no need to ask.

  • I’m looking for a senior process engineer, 7+ years experience. Send your cv here. Also looking for process safety persons, lead piping designer, lead instrument engineer, and other seniors you think will catch my eye.

May I suggest that readers try Bluestacks? Run your Android apps on your Windows tablet, so you can buy that Win8 tablet (and buy me one) without worrying you won’t have anything to play on it!

Support your local bookshop!  Bookalicious at The Summit Subang is a good choice. I think they focus on trilogies, quadrilogies, and other ologies. Tell them I sent you, and enjoy the look of perplexity on their faces. Those of you who have dropped my name, thanks!

How about reading up on LNG?

Malaysia’s Petronas reports lower profit again

December 15, 2012

Oil prices are low?

Dateline 2012-11-29:

Petronas, which contributes nearly half of Malaysia’s budget revenues, said earnings fell 21.6 percent for the third quarter ending September 30, to 14.4 billion ringgit ($4.7 billion) due to sagging prices and lower crude output.

In September it had reported a 30 percent fall in second-quarter profit.

“Sluggish global economic growth and geopolitical uncertainties remain as key risks to the oil and gas industry,” the company said in its latest financial report.

It also reiterated an earlier warning on full-year earnings, saying “results for the year are expected to be lower than last year”.

Malaysia’s Petronas delays startup of Melaka LNG import terminal to Q2 2013

December 14, 2012

Let’s call this reality converging with optimism.

Dateline 2012-11-26:

Commercial startup of the Melaka LNG terminal — Malaysia’s first LNG import facility — has been pushed back for the second time to the April-June quarter of 2013, according to a statement from Petronas Gas, a subsidiary of state-run Petronas.

There will be no material effect on Petronas Gas’ earnings and net assets for the financial year ending December 31, 2012, arising from the later commencement of operations at the LNG regasification terminal, Petronas Gas said Friday in a statement to Bursa Malaysia.

Petronas Gas did not give a reason for the delay and Petronas officials were not available for comment Tuesday.

Shell Malaysia signs new exploration contract with Petronas

December 13, 2012

Dateline 2012-11-27:

Shell Malaysia has signed a new production sharing contract (PSC) with Petronas to explore for oil and gas offshore Sarawak.

In a statement on Tuesday, Shell said under the SK319 PSC, it would undertake an initial three-year exploration programme covering 2,727 sq km within block SK319 in Central Luconia, offshore Sarawak.

Sarawak Shell Bhd is the operator while the partner is Petronas Carigali with a 50:50 participating equity split, it said.

The new PSC forms part of Shell’s low-cost exploration and development focus would enable it to carry out a multi-well exploration campaign to further explore and de-risk the mature carbonate pinnacle play in Central Luconia.
