Petronas’ first floating LNG vessel, PFLNG SATU, has reached the Kanowit gas fieldoffshore Malaysia, the company posted on social media.
The vessel set sail from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. shipyard in Okpo, South Korea, to the Kanowit gas field, 180 km (112 mi) offshore Sarawak on May 14.
“After [a] 2,120 nautical mi (2,439 mi /3,925 km) journey to Malaysia, on the 30 May 2016, the PFLNG 1 has finally reached its destination,” Petronas posted.
The vessel measures 365 m (1,198 ft) in length, 60 m (197 ft) in width, and 33 m (108 ft) in height. It is designed to operate in water depths between 70 m and 200 m (230 ft and 656 ft) and has a processing capacity of 1.2 million metric tons of LNG per year.
