Didn’t know PETRONAS Gas couldn’t manage their own pipeline network. And a simple one at that. Dateline 2011-07-18:
Petronas has selected Energy Solutions International to supply a gas management system for the Petronas Gas Transmission Pipeline System in Malaysia.
Petronas Gas Berhad provides piped gas to end users in the power, industrial and commercial sectors in Peninsular Malaysia and power plants in Singapore via its Peninsular Gas Utilization system. The Peninsular Gas Utilization pipeline system is more than 2,500 kilometers long and a major component of Petronas’ gas operations. The PGU pipeline system has essentially two major inlet areas, with three gas sources.
The gas management solution is to be used for planning, simulation, gas monitoring, contract execution, monitoring, billing and reporting for sales. The solution will also integrate existing pipeline simulation modules and provides an integrated platform for data integration of operation and commercial data from existing real time systems such as SCADA, data historian systems, manual inputs and other 3rd party application.
From my knowledge, PGB is using TGNET/TLNET since beginning of the PGU project. These software has changed their name to Pipeline Studio sometimes in year 2000 when ESI acquired the previous TGNET/TLNET company if I’m not mistaken. So no wonder they gave the contract to ESI.
Contrary to PCSB, they are using Pipesim for pipeline simulation (also going towards dynamic using OLGA).
Mat: Any plans for them to do all this inhouse? Is this local expertise?
In my knowledge, they started to have pipeline transient analysis team. They also have the team to do CDBM using hydrocorr (this shell proprietary software is not licensed out to 3rd party)
when i attended olga training, sembang2 with the trainers, they told me, they are teaching a team in pcsb on olga.. sort of forming a in house hydraulic team …
normal la cases on start up,shutdown, pigging, bdown etc..
olga , pipesim, pipenet are just hydraulic softwares. kena rajin troubleshoot, understnd hw the sim works and bug the customer care..
hmm.. in 15 years time nak buka own company pipeline management la.. amin..
We had very bad trainer in one session by SPT. Young grad doing training.
Anyway, OLGA is a good software. Wata, you can go hire ayeshaness to join Synergy…. you need for FA engineers kan?
hmmm.. i’m not ready to jump yet… haven’t fully ‘transient-ified’ myself … hohoho
Dia kata: money is not always the issue here.
however
Hmm … you pay a peanut you get a seriusly dam**** monkey.
i think wata pays too much for his grads. wait till you see my salt mine.
All: If TheH salt mine guests offer you yellow salt, saying it tastes better than the white stuff, let me know if it is.
and why do we do OLGA study on a gas pipeline network….. that’s a mystery…..
JB: unless they have liquid in the PGU loop, which opens up a whole can of worms (and lawsuits).
