Dear MOGEC member , I am pleased to inform you that we are bringing the above training to Malaysia for the third time. Please find the course leaflet for Fundamentals of process safety, 4-8 July 2011 in Malaysia which can also be downloaded from this URL: http://www.icheme.org/fpsmal2011 <http://www.icheme.org/fpsmal2011>
This Fundamentals of Process Safety training course is very relevant to industry. From IChemE’s investigations it was clear that whilst a number of different courses in process safety management are available there were still important training gaps which need to be filled. In particular none of the current courses provide a broad overview which will enable a young engineer or a manager to appreciate how the individual elements of process safety need to be combined to deliver practical results. In addition it is unlikely that an engineer who does not plan to specialise in process safety will be able to attend more than one or two of the specialist courses. It was this thinking that lead to the decision by the IChemE to develop a new course based upon contributions of many leading companies – BP, GSK, INEOS, Yule Catto, Health & Safety Executive (UK) and others. The course content has been designed in the UK to cover broadly all key elements of process safety, and to reflect on real life practice and case studies from the process industries.
IChemE in Malaysia brought this course here in June 2009 and it was very well attended. Participants came from organizations such as Ecogreen Oleochemicals, Emery Oleochemicals, Hess, KLK, MOX-Linde, Pacific Oleochemicals, PETRONAS, Revertex, Schaefer Kalk, Synthomer, Taiko, Talisman and the University of Nottingham (Malaysia campus).
