From the Borneo Post Online – Locals entitled to more jobs in oil and gas industry

Dateline 2011-04-23:

A community leader in Miri wants giant oil and gas companies, Sarawak Shell Berhad and Petronas Carigali, to give more opportunity to Sarawakians to fill positions in their operations in the state.

PBB Piasau deputy chairman Hamzah Bujang said: “The two companies should reconsider employing more Sarawakians qualified in this field and not let it be monopolised by a certain group of people.”

Yes. Yes. Yes. So we Sarawakian chemical/gas/petroleum grads wont have to work in peninsular. Since there’s better offer back at hometown.

Yeah, right. except they still need experience expat to run the place. Don’t believe me, just go to starbucks in front of Shell building.

Locals – canteen for kopi o
    Expats – starbucks for capuccino.

We’ll need to train them to be proper expert, not just give them more work as toilet cleaners. Let’s transfer technology to Malaysians, and kick out the white skins.
