Saturday Star 2008-12-13 – Job Opportunities

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:

  • Synergy Oil and Gas Engineeringis recruiting fresh chemical engineering graduates, or those with around 1 year experience. CVs may be sent to enquiry@synergykl.com.my. It’s also looking for admin execs who can run the invoicing / payroll / accounting web as well as be office managers.
  • Murphy is looking for an Interface Engineering Manager. Sounds interesting. One responsibility is to ‘develop and implement an Interface Management System to define and manage technical scope of work at the boundaries between Company work groups in multi-discipline/multi-contractor projects and between various contractor groups.’ A min of 20 years experience is required. Apply to cv_hr@murphyoilcorp.com
  • Technip has requirements for a subsea installation engineer and a subsea structural engineer. Visit their website.
  • RasGas is looking for a whole mess of people – head elec eng, head rot eng, rot eng, elec/power eng, mech eng, proc eng, integrity eng (materials, not ethics), corr eng (manage, encourage happens easily enough), control sys eng, safety sys eng, field en, programmatic eng, metallurgical eng, inst and control eng, reliability eng. CVs to be submitted here. I believe RasGas is a JV, one of the partners being ExxonMobil.

Sigh, when I move with Synergy to Subang, will you patronise Chee Meng in my memory?

  1. zzeed says:

never heard of interface engineering before

  2. Jabbathehutt says:

yeah, let alone 20yrs of interface engineering.

I guess it is a more elegant term for “bullshit artist”

Its like most consultants, where their jobs are to “con and insults” (hence the word consults)

    hahahahaha

  3. salleh says:

what they want is a perosn with deepwater experiance in wellhead installation and commissioning as they are in the midst of doing it. It involve knowledge in umbilical and control.

  4. salleh says:

i have been searching this position for them since 2008 nad trust me they will bring in a white guy for the job as this is our fist deepwater operation.

  5. JabbatheHutt says:

Cool, now i know what this position does.

  6. salleh says:

I found about WATA’s blog when I’m searching for a latest vacancy in o&g and find its really informative. Keep up the good effort WATA.

I’m newly joint oil&gas as a field service engineer (~1 yr). Previously, i was in automotive industry (2.5 yr). Just want to ask your advice/opinion. I really interested in project management/consultant. Is it ok if I’m applying for the new job now so that i can learn as much as i can in my early career. Do you think it is too fast as i just <1yr with my current company (bad repo?).

Your comment is very much appreciated. TQ
p/s: any vacancy as prjct engineer/mechanical engineer? 😉

  8. Jabbathehutt says:

Salleh. I am running my own business in Jakarta and won’t be running about. Thanks for the offer.

  9. Jabbathehutt says:

    Rio Nardo,

You should start in the oil and gas as early as possible. I would advice you take a shit job in O&G than a high paying job hoping to jump into O&G later.

normally, once you don’t start in this circle, it is near impossible to join this circle.

Again, for young engineer, provide a link to your CV, as no one will offer you a job with a p/s.

its like; P/S any vacancy for a CEO of a multinational oil company (e.g Petronas, Conoco, BP, Shell etc)

    its a joke.

  10. Rio Nardo says:

    Thank u Mr. Jabba

here’s the link to my cv…… a humble cv indeed 🙂
