From the Star – Uzma wins Oil Contract

October 27, 2010

I know the fellas at Uzma are smart, but this news release must rank among those most empty of information. Do you buy or sell Uzma share?

Taken from the Star, dateline 2010-10-23:

Oil and gas contractor Uzma Bhd told Bursa Malaysia yesterday its wholly owned unit has received a letter of award from a national oil company as one of the contractors appointed to do subsurface studies for “routine and enhance oil recovery services’’ for an intial period of three years.Uzma did not named the national oil firm, disclosed any financial details with regards to the appointment. “It should be noted that the subsurface contract does not constitute or imply a commitment by the oil firm to award any specific volume of works to Uzma.”

From the Star – Oil Play Back in Favour

June 26, 2009

Dateline 2009-06-20:

…Most oil and gas players do not have direct exposure to oil prices. The industry has a wide range of business models, and most of the local players provide services to Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) and other oil majors, comprising of PETRONAS’ production sharing contractors (PSCs) such as Murphy Oil, Shell and ExxonMobil.

And I see Uzma’s boss, Datuk Kamarul Redzuan Muhamed, is quoted in the article, which you can get from their site.

New HAZOP Tool

November 27, 2008

I facilitated a HAZOP for Uzma on Sunday, 23rd November, 2008, in Kerteh Terengganu (yes, I was doing it under the Poyry ticket).

Anyhow, I found that the following tool is extremely useful in:

  • pointing out items on the projection screen.
  • Demonstrating heights and lengths.
  • Just feels cool.

I suggest using one about 4 1/2″ long, an inch thick.
