Underwater Photosynths – Finally!

Okay, not the best representation of the art, but I’m getting there. View the Photosynths of Pulau Perhentian Batu Layar and Terumbu Tiga. Naked lung creatures shown for free below.

Saturday Star 2009-05-09 – Job Opportunities

May 11, 2009

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:

  • BHP Billiton is looking for a Senior Drilling Engineer. Find out more here and submit your updated CV online. Looks like they are involved in deep water Sabah work.
  • BP is looking for flotilla engineers. I don’t think this is an O&G job, but hey you get “BP” on your resume. You must “forward a comprehensive resume to: leo.vincent@se1.bp.com.” Do this before 23rd May, 2009.
  • I see that SABIC is still recruiting. It wants project engineers, process / mech / instr / elec / control sys / safety engineers, and some consultants. You can apply via email here.
  • Carigali Hess is looking for a mechanical engineering head, and rotating machinery engineer. I see that they are expanding, as they already have an engineering head and a rot machinery lead. Go apply for this job, as the seniors there are well trained, having come from other big players in the Malaysian industry. You can apply via email here.

Wind Turbines on Perhentian Island – Update

May 10, 2009

Remember those wind turbines I mentioned last year? Unfortunately, they have stopped working. Someone please tell me that this was a commercial venture, and didn’t use my marine park entrance fee.

Saturday Star 2009-05-02 – Job Opportunities

May 4, 2009

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:

  • None for O&G engineers.

So, it’s an employers’ market. I’m thinking of paying SOGE’s next engineer a pound of salt, and some garlic-flavoured peanuts.

From Business Times – Deleum Tenders for RM400m Contracts

May 3, 2009

Dateline 2009-04-28 (story link here):

Oil and gas services provider Deleum Bhd has tendered for contracts worth RM300 million to RM400 million, group managing director Chandran Aloysius Rajadurai said today.

These comprised service and project contracts, he said, adding that a major chunk involved jobs in Malaysia.

Currently, Deleum has projects worth RM1 billion which will keep it busy up to 2016, he said after the company’s annual general meeting here.

Asked if the decline in crude oil prices from an all-time high of US$147 per barrel has impacted the industry, Chandran said: “Some major projects have been deferred, some are being reassessed and some have been stopped.”

I need to squeeze some work out of Deleum.

The SOGE Office – Full to the Brim

April 30, 2009

Another Photosynth view of the office. We’re getting a bit more fuller, and I suppose we have enough money to pay for the rent and the lights. We’d like some more work during these trying times.
