The second phase of development at the ATT Tanjung Bin, or ATB, oil terminal in Johor, Malaysia, which will add 250,000 cubic meters of storage capacity and an additional berth for Aframax tankers, will be completed in the first quarter of 2015, a company source with the terminal’s owner, VTTI, said Thursday.
This phase will boost the terminal’s storage capacity to about 1.14 million cu m and will add one more berth with similar specifications to its existing No. 2 berth: maximum vessel length of 260 meters, maximum deadweight tonnage at 120,000 mt, allowable draft at berth of 16.7 meters and a maximum manifold height from waterline at 17.45 meters.

The leader of Indonesia’s oil and gas regulatory committee, Rudi Rubiandini, was placed under late on Tuesday. Rubiandini, who was appointed head of SKKMigas in January, was taken into custody with three unnamed acquaintances. SKKMigas oversees oil and gas sale and distribution under the country’s energy and mineral resources ministry.

Energy majors Exxon Mobil Corp and Royal Dutch Shell are among the suitors advancing to the next round of bidding for Newfield Exploration Co’s Malaysian and Chinese oil and gas fields valued at about $1.2 billion, people familiar with the matter said.
Newfield and Hess Corp are among a number of U.S. energy companies unloading ageing and less productive oil and gas fields to invest in more strategic and profitable projects, particularly in and close to their home markets. The moves are driven in part by activist shareholders.

Lundin Petroleum has submitted a development plan to Petronas for the Bertam oil discovery offshore Peninsular Malaysia.
The company has a 75% operated interest in the surrounding PM307 license, which also contains the Tembakau gas accumulation.
Lundin expects approval for its plan later this year. Bertam, which has gross 2P reserves of 17 MMboe, is expected to deliver first oil in 2015 and peak at 15,000 b/d.

Oil and gas company NGC Energy Sdn Bhd has appointed drug-intervention community- based organisation Komited Malaysia (formerly known as DIC Pahang) as subdistributors for MIRA Gas cooking gas cylinders, while launching its exclusive edition Getting-to-Zero Firesafe Fire Extinguisher in aid of the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF).
According to NGC Energy Sdn Bhd GM Julianna Kamaruddin, as a result of its appointment, Komited Malaysia will be responsible for distribution and sales of the MIRA cooking gas cylinders in the Kuantan region, with up to RM3 from the sales of each cylinder going to the organisation.

Investors sold off shares in Malaysian oil and gas services firms after Reuters reported state-owned Petronas will start a planned $19 billion petrochemicals complex in 2018, signalling a delay in awarding work contracts for the massive project.
Malaysia’s top ten oil and gas services firms by market capitalisation have been popular with investors this year, soaring an average 55 percent so far, well ahead of the local bourse’s 5.2 percent gain.
News of a further delay to the refinery and special chemicals project took some wind out of the sector, which has been expanding rapidly to capture regional deepwater exploration and production jobs and benefit from Petronas’ $93 billion capital spending in 2011-2015.
