Malaysia’s Petronas makes gas discoveries offshore Sarawak

Dateline 2012-11-26:

Malaysia’s national oil company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) said on Monday it has made two major gas discoveries off the coast of Sarawak state.

Petronas said its preliminary assessment of the first discovery, at the Kuang North field, indicates total volume of natural gas around 2.3 trillion standard cubic feet.

The second discovery, at the TukauTimur field, indicates total volume of around 2.1 trillion standard cubic feet, Petronas said. (Reporting By Siva Sithraputhran; Editing by Niluksi Koswanage)

Saya terpanggil untuk memberi pandangan terhadap kenyataan YB Dato’ Haji Husam Musa seperti yang disiarkan di dalam laman webnya di sini.

Antara lainnya, Exco Kerajaan Negeri Kelantan dan Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Tuntutan Royalti Minyak Kelantan itu telah menuduh bahawa PETRONAS, Kerajaan Persekutuan dan YB Senator Dato’ Dr Awang Adek telah melakukan jenayah pecah amanah di dalam isu royalti minyak Kelantan. Kenyataan itu dibuat sebagai respons kepada kenyataan Pengerusi PETRONAS beberapa hari yang lalu.

Pada pendapat saya Husam telah sekali lagi cuba berbohong. Berbohong yang saya maksudkan ialah memutar belit fakta bagi menyelamatkan keadaan. Kenyataan Husam itu pada pandangan peribadi saya tidak lain sekadar sekali lagi cuba mengaburi dan mengelirukan masyarakat dengan menimbulkan sentimen kebencian mengatasi kebenaran.

Ini kerana kebenaran tidak ditimbulkan di dalam kenyataan Husam. Kebenaran yang saya maksudkan ialah perbezaan di antara perjanjian PETRONAS dengan Kerajaan Persekutuan dan Kerajaan Kelantan.

Perjanjian antara PETRONAS dengan Kerajaan Persekutuan jelas menyebut bahawa…

IEM Shout Out – 2-Day Course on Overview of Asset Management Standard and Assessments

This is a shout out for the IEM. My Technical Division will be having a course on Tues 4th to 5th December, 2012. It’ll be at 9:00 am at the distinguished Kelab Golf Negara Subang.

The main aims of this course are to:

  • Introduce participants to the concepts, practices and application of asset management and their implications for the optimized management of physical assets;
  • Provide an overview of PAS 55 requirements for physical asset management and how these apply to the organisation;
  • Review options and good industry practice for asset management planning and for implementation of optimized plans over asset life cycles;
  • Show how these can be integrated with a business management system to align with other requirements including management system standards, relevant specifications and regulatory requirements;
  • Learn how to do good asset auditing and assessment programme.

Ir. Al-Khairi has 20 years of experience in research, cement, oil and gas, petrochemical, oleo chemicals industries and health care facilities. He has gained various experiences in design, construction, testing and commissioning, operate and maintain facilities and plants from various multinational companies both abroad and locally. He has served in various roles as engineers and manager to the plant and facilities.

With such a diverse industrial background, Ir. Al-Khairi has formed Faqeh Management, an asset and reliability company to improve the equipment reliability and maintenance standard in the industry. The main function of the company is to provide training and consultancy work for the industry. Among the industry that he has provided services are hospital and health care, airports, facilities management organization, printing and palm oil mills.

Where is the oil fund?

There’s an oil fund?

Petronas was set up in 1974 and its first CEO Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah recently revealed that there were plans for the establishment of a Tabung Warisan Petrolium (National Petroleum Heritage Fund) for the future of Malaysians when our oil wells run dry.

Has there been any such oil fund set up? As far as I know there has never been a disclosure by the government of the existence of such a fund.

With the billions or even trillions of ringgit in oil revenue over some four decades, there is absolutely no excuse that is acceptable to Malaysians for this tragic betrayal of the people’s trust by our “oil sheikhs … Mahathir, Abdullah and Najib”.
