KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia should revisit the idea of pursuing nuclear energy as part of its long-term energy security, economists said, as the Middle East tensions expose the country’s vulnerability to global supply disruptions and rising fuel costs.
They said the worsening geopolitical uncertainty and volatility in oil markets underscore the need for Malaysia to diversify its energy mix beyond conventional fossil fuels while strengthening domestic energy resilience.
