PAS: Foreign head of new Petronas arm ‘insult’ to Malaysians

Really, took them that long to come up with that statement? Or they just slow readers? Or did the PETRONAS lads and lasses find a channel to vent their displeasure?

Dateline 2013-09-26, The Malay Mail:

PAS today slammed Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd for appointing a “foreigner” to lead its new unit, Vestigo Petroleum Sdn Bhd, asking why they could not appoint someone from the hundreds of experienced top managers working for the national oil company.

Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar said the appointment of former Petrofac head Keith Collins as Vestigo chief executive officer was an affront to Malaysia’s industry veterans.

“They should reconsider the appointment, because we have so much local talent,” he said at a press conference at the Parliament lobby. “The appointment is an insult to the over 100 people who are general managers and senior general managers in Petronas Carigali.”
