Shout Out – Talk on Corrosion in The Oil and Gas Industry

This is a shout out for the IEM. My Technical Division will be  hosting a talk on the 6th November, 2012. It’ll be at 5:30 pm  (makan-makan at 5:00). There’s an elevator at Wisma IEM, so no excuses.

The Oil and Gas Industry has a huge range of activities from exploration, extraction and production, processing and manufacturing of hydrocarbons.

The potential for corrosion to occur exists at all these stages as long as metallic materials are used. Corrosion if left unchecked can lead to disastrous failures that can cause huge impact to loss of production, damage to facilities and environment, and safety of personnel and the public. The key issues relating to HSSE, Cost, Integrity and Quality for an effective and successful prevention of corrosion are discussed in this presentation.

At the end of this presentation, the attendees should be aware of different corrosion processes in the different areas of activities, how design decisions are made to control predicted corrosion, and the keys to corrosion management during operations and production.
