Some petrol stations are breaking the law by selling subsidised RON 95 petrol to Thai motorists.
This has encouraged the smuggling of RON 95 from the border town of Perlis into Thailand, Padang Besar Anti-Smuggling Unit (UPP) commander Assistant Suprintendent Noor Janihan Nanyan said yesterday.
Motor vehicles registered outside Malaysia are not allowed to buy RON 95 and natural gas. However, foreign-registered vehicles are allowed to fill up to 20 litres of subsidised diesel at a station within a radius of 50km from the point of entry into the country.
