From Bernama – Weststar Aviation Begins Helicopter Services From Sultan Mahmud Airport

Hey, now choppers are taking off from Kertih, KB and KT.

Dateline 2011-09-29:

Offshore helicopter services provider, Weststar Aviation Services Sdn Bhd (Weststar Aviation), will start operating from the Sultan Mahmud Airport here from Saturday.

Terengganu Malaysia Airports Berhad manager Ahmad Ramli Mahmood said the company would fly oil company staff working in oil rigs off the Terengganu coast and bring them back.

“It will not provide services to the public,” he told reporters Thursday.

Meanwhile, Weststar Aviation will buy another three helicopters in the first quarter of next year.

Weststar Aviation was previously based at the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Kota Baharu. The management decided to shift their operations to the Sultan Mahmud Airport as it was more time-saving given the distance between the airport and the oil rigs.
