Process Safety Management has been a critical subject in recent years due to the many accidents and disasters with devastating consequences resulting in loss running into billions of dollars. It is an application of management principles and systems to the identification, understanding and control of process hazards. The talk will provide an understanding of process safety for the oil and gas facilities that include the process units, utility units and the equipment modules. Overpressure protection systems, failure cases and pressure devices for various systems within the plant will be explained and discussed. Some introduction to process safety methodologies and mitigation measures will also be elaborated upon to provide the audience with a working knowledge of Process Safety in the oil and gas facilities.
En. Sallehuddin Sidek is currently a Principal Process Engineer with PETRONAS. He obtained his BSc. in Chemical Engineering from the Oklahoma State University, USA in 1987. He has 23+ years of working experience in the oil and gas industry, covering wide areas such as gas processing plant operation, turnaround, plant start-up and shutdown, production planning, pre-commissioning and commissioning. He is also involved in undertaking feasibility studies, projects appraisal, conceptual studies, de-bottlenecking studies, plant modifications, basic design, detailed design, engineering and project management activities. He has had an extensive working experience with international Consultants and Contractors of the industry. In addition, he is also a PETRONAS in-house Trainer in Safety in Process Design and an external examiner for Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.

This will be an excellent talk; I want to attend it. However, the date coincides with BERSIH rally. There will be roadblocks every where. It will take hours for me (and other people) to reach Wisma IEM and to go back home. I would like to suggest this talk to be postponed to another date in the near future.
