From Rueters – Petronas says gets rights to Malaysia-Thailand gas fields

Dateline 2011-04-21:

PETRONAS said on Thursday it has signed a deal that gives the state oil firm rights to a gas field under the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority that will help boost Malaysian supplies.

PETRONAS said it signed a unitisation agreement with the authority for the Bumi field in Block PM 301 and the Bumi South field in Block A-18 that firms up an earlier agreement inked in 2008.

Unitisation for Bumi South is nothing to do with boost up production to Malaysia as reported. As far as I understood, we flow the Bumi South through Bumi to Thailand, so we just get the profit not the gas itself. Unless the North Malay Basin project (not yet consensus) which flow the JDA gas to Malaysia through new pipeline.

Pak Sheikh: maybe they meant ‘revenue’? Or maybe production is a code for election funds?
