Hassan: No cutback in PETRONAS spending:
Petroliam National Bhd (PETRONAS) has not reduced any spending in the oil & gas sector, pledging a commitment of some RM35 billion for the exploration and production activities this year.
I think that PETRONAS might have held back a wee bit on local crude brownfield debottlenecking and production enhancement projects since the beginning of this year, but that’s me. I actually missed their booth at this year’s OGA, and I sincerely apologise.

Hi Wata, you missed their booth as you really missed them or missed them as they did not have a booth there?
salleh: from what I hear, PETRONAS did not have a pavilion this year (horror, gasp).
Wata : Yes, they do have a booth this time, not sure if you notice Exxon is promoting their petrol card there.
Did they give out little bumper stickers which says “buy petronas fuel”
what?! no PETRONAS booth with the F1 girls hanging around?!
Yes, no F1 girls but there a number of Filipino girl with skimpy and tight dress wearing hardhat at the Filiphine booth.
Wata : Any comment on Dr M statement of the goverment replacing Tan Sri?
Salleh: I’ve only read the comment on the Bernama site. Seems none committal. I also note that rumour has it that Omar Mustafa Ong may be a director of Petronas. Good man, if he has the integrity I admire. Ex-Oxford, ex-MRSM Muar, hopefully current friend :).
Wata : are you ex-MRSM? If you are which one?

Najib aide proposed for Petronas board
News service
The board of directors of Petronas is resisting a bid by Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak to appoint his key aide as a director of the national oil company.
Najib has proposed to appoint one of his closest political confidants Omar Mustapha to Petronas’ board.
However, Petronas’ existing directors have raised reservations during a meeting last month, according to a report in the Straits Times.
The move will also put Najib at adds with former premier Mahatir Mohamad.
