Schlumberger picks KL as hub in Asia Pacific

I take it we are entering that business phase of ‘grow big or go home’? No more juara kampung any more, only liga perdana will exist?

Schlumberger Ltd, the world’s largest oilfield services company, opted for Malaysia to be its hub for the Asia Pacific region due to the country’s positive business outlook, said its Asia Pacific chairman Jamal A. Ainul.

Jamal said the positive business outlook stems from strong relationship between Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) and its production sharing contract (PSC) partners.

“More importantly, it (Petronas) has the backing of the country and this allows multinational as well as local oil and gas service companies to start taking Malaysia seriously,” he said at a talk held in conjunction with the inaugural Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Exhibition and Conference, here, yesterday.

Saturday Star 08-08-09 – Job Opportunities

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:

  • DPS Bristol (M) Sdn Bhd and DPS Consultant Malaysia Sdn Bhd are looking for a lot of engineers. Examples are Project Eng (6 pax), Lead Process Eng (10 pax!), Lead Mech/Pipe (10 pax)… I wish my company was expanding that fast. Anyhow, closing date is 15th August, 2008.   • MISC are looking for a few engineers. 
  • MMHE is looking for engineers. They have a walk in interview at Hotel Grand Continental Kuantan, 16th and 17th August, between 8.30 to 6.00 pm. Visit their site under Career Opportunities, or email your resume in.
  • Schlumbergeris looking for a geoscientist / reservoir engineer. Email your resume in before 20th August.

  • Oryxin Kuwait has a position for Head of Production, Utilities & Hydrogen Production and Product Workup Units. Another GTL opportunity. They are a JV between the ever loved Qatar Petroleum and Sasol of South Africa.
  • Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) is looking for a process, instrument / control system, safety engineers and polypropylene operators. There is  a walk in interview on the 16th to 19th August, 2009. (tempting, tempting) at the JW Marriot, between 0900 to 1700. You can apply via email here.

  • Qatargas is looking for Rot Eqt Eng, Fac Eng (hey, my kind of post), Proc Eng, APC (I guess automated process control) Eng. You can apply via email here.
  • SapuraCrest is looking for a whole mess of engineers, that is (long breath) Field Opns, Struc, Pipeline, Naval/Marine, Plan, QA/QC. CVs to be submitted here no later than 31st March.
  • Schlumberger is looking for engineers. CVs to be submitted here.
  • Petrofac is looking for a deputy prod manager & senior operations engineer. CVs to be submitted here,  or fax to HR & Admin Manager +603 2300 2371 (hah, how do you know this isn’t my number?)
