Sabah pipeline row: Get your facts right, says Ongkili

August 13, 2018

Dateline 2018-06-10, FMT:

A former federal energy minister, Maximus Ongkili, has criticised Sabah DAP for making wild accusations about the Trans Sabah Gas Pipeline project recently highlighted for allegedly dubious financial transactions.

Ongkili hit out at state DAP secretary Chan Foong Hin for making comments on the issue without having enough facts to support his statement.

“Get your facts right first (and) do justice to your MP job,” he said. Chan is the MP for Kota Kinabalu.

“Obviously he does not know about the Kimanis-Sandakan pipeline project,” said Ongkili, accusing Chan of political immaturity and DAP leaders of being “political novices in government”.

Gas prices to remain until the end of the year

October 10, 2015

Dateline Sept 11, NST:

Gas prices shall remain until the next revision at the end of the year. Despite falling fuel prices in the world market, gas supplied in Malaysia is still below world market price of around RM40 per mmbtu (million British thermal units), said Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili.

Gas is still being subsidised by the government, the minister said at the sidelines of International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2015 held here today.

Gas Malaysia Bhd, Malaysia’s supplier of natural gas had, since July 2015, raised tariffs by an average of 10.3 per cent for the fuel supplied to commercial and industrial sectors.

Decision on gas pipeline within two months: Ongkili

September 18, 2015

Dateline 2015-08-17, NST:

A decision on the proposed gas pipeline from Tuaran to Sandakan will be made by the government in two months, said Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili.

The proposed pipeline is expected to connect to a 380Mw gas-fired power plant in Sandakan and improve power supply at Sabah’s east coast if the project is approved.

Speaking to reporters at an international energy gathering here, Ongkili said the Economic Council has approved the idea which will allow districts along the way such as Kota Belud, Kota Marudu and Beluran to tap on the gas source.
