Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) says despite major security concerns, there are lucrative contracts for Malaysian oil and gas (O&G) support companies in the recently liberalised Iraqi oil industry.
Matrade’s senior director Datuk Dzulkifli Mahmud said the Iraqi government is farming out contracts for services to its oil industry as well as in parts, supplies and maintenance worth billions of dollars. “Malaysian companies should seek contracts in the service provision business in the O&G sector,” said Dzulkifli in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Dzulkifli said Malaysian O&G companies have the expertise that are now urgently needed in Iraq.
