Oil and gas remains the main focus for Malaysia’s state-owned oil firm Petronas for the next decade, even as it explores the alternative energy sphere.
Gentari, the firm’s latest clean energy subsidiary, was set up as a separate entity to keep the core business “lean, mean and generating as much (profit) as possible,” said Petronas’ vice president of exploration and upstream, Mohd Redhani bin Abdul Rahman.

Oil & gas (O&G) players need to work together as stakeholders in the system to address the power crisis by providing clean, reliable, affordable energy, according to Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) president and group CEO Tengku Muhammad Taufik.
“What we are seeing today is an energy crisis, a food crisis, an inflation crisis and if left unchecked, all of these will converge into what we cannot contend with, which is a world security crisis,” he said in his keynote address at the Oil & Gas Asia (OGA) 2022, the Malaysia Oil & Gas Services Exhibition and Conference (Mogsec) and Petrochemicals Sustainability Conference (PSC) today.

Oil and gas (O&G) industry players need to come together to tackle issues of the energy and climate crisis, according to Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) president and group chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz.

Samsung Engineering, one of the world’s leading Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Project Management (EPC&PM) companies with SEDC Energy (a wholly owned subsidiary of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC)) and Sarawak Energy Berhad, LOTTE CHEMICAL, and POSCO Holdings jointly announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) to study the potential of suppling at least 900MW of hydro-based renewable power for the H2biscus Green Hydrogen/Ammonia project (H2biscus project) in Sarawak, Malaysia.
