Decarbonisation of Malaysia’s power sector cheaper than ‘business as usual’: industry watchers

February 10, 2023

Solyent Green is another way to decarbo.

Dateline 2022-11-30, Eco-Business:

Malaysia could save as much as US$250 billion on its cumulative energy system if it aligned its decarbonisation efforts with a 1.5 degrees Celsius scenario, making for a “compelling cost argument”, according to International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

“[Malaysia’s switch to renewable energy] is actually less costly than business as usual, and that is largely a result of the competitiveness of renewable energy technology,” said IRENA’s programme officer Nicholas Wagner at a panel session at Malaysia’s COP27 pavilion in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt recently.

Get in the fusion bandwagon at ground level and get those patents in.

Dateline 2022-11-01, NST:

THE Russia-Ukraine conflict has exposed a new reality about the world energy mix.

In the United Kingdom, a prime minister was unseated because of a rushed job to address the country’s high energy costs.

The capping of energy prices for UK household heating with no clear strategy on how to pay for the subsidy, cost Liz Truss her job.

In the European Union, countries dependent on gas from Russia worry about how they will manage as winter approaches and demand for energy rises.
