From Rueters – Malaysian dealers to hike price of premium fuel

Malaysian petrol dealers said on Monday they will raise the price of the premium grade RON 97 fuel by 5 sen or 2.4 percent to 2.15 ringgit ($0.695) a litre on Tuesday.

“RON 97 has not been subsidised by the government and since world oil prices have gone up, the petrol price gets adjusted,” Hashim Othman, president of the Petroleum Dealers Association of Malaysia, told Reuters.

The government is optimistic about Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd’s growth prospects, both in expanding into more complex petrochemical products and supporting upstream and downstream industries, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“We have great faith and high expectations that Petronas will contribute to drive innovative new development and reinforce Malaysia’s reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s premier petrochemicals production hubs,” he said.

He has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from The University of Wollongong, Australia. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the BEM.

En Zulhilmi Lihin is currently a Senior Structural Engineer with Petronas Group Technology Solutions. He has more than 8 years of experience in Offshore Engineering. He has actively involved in RBI Assessment, Structural Reliability & Integrity, design & construction of offshore platforms.

From the Star – Petronas Gas appoints 4 new directors

Petronas Gas Bhd has appointed four new directors following the resignation of two directors, namely Datuk Mohammed Azhar Osman Khairuddin and Farehana Hanapiah.

It told Bursa Malaysia that the newly appointed non-independent and non-executive directors were Rosli Boni, Mohammad Medan Abdullah, Ramlan Abdul Malek and Lau Nai Tuang.

Mohammed Azhar also resigned as a Petronas Gas audit committee member. Rosli was appointed a new audit committee member.

From the Star – EPPs to achieve GNI target

MALAYSIA’S oil, gas and energy sector is expected to register an annual growth of 5% from 2010 to 2020.

This ambitious goal will deliver RM131.4bil in terms of gross national income (GNI) by 2020, or doubled the current contribution. It will also create an additional 52,000 jobs.

To achieve this target set out under the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), 12 entry point projects (EPPs) have been identified. The EPPs will generate RM47.1bil to GNI, while another RM61.2bil will come from business opportunities and baseline growth.

Malaysia is a leading player in the oil and gas industry in the Asia-Pacific region and according to industry experts, has the potential to be one of the world’s key deep-water oil and gas hubs.

In this context, the upcoming 18th International Oil & Gas Industry Exhibition & Conference (OSEA) 2010, will give local companies an excellent opportunity to further showcase their expertise and specialised services.

To be held from Nov 3-Dec 3 at the Suntec Singapore, the event will involve 1,500 international exhibitors and is expected to receive over 22,000 participants from 60 countries and regions.

The contribution from the sector is expected to increase by approximately 20 per cent over the next five years to reach RM81.9 billion or 11.1 per cent of Malaysia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
