The SOGE Story – A Finishered Office (I know)

February 6, 2009

Been kinda busy lately, with me being home alone at the office. Why just this morning I went out to see a mate at Trisystems who offer “offers customers complete instrumentation and control solutions”. Gotta do that marketing, oil & gas is like any other business, if people can’t find you, don’t cry that you don’t get any jobs.

Anyhow, here’s a link to the continuing saga of Synergy Oil & Gas Engineering Sdn. Bhd. Another Photosynth view of the office. Thank the other director that his world map allowed ‘synth to transverse that otherwise blank wall.

You see those empty seats? They won’t be empty for long…

From The Star – WEC and Oil

Everyone’s worried about the price of oil, including the big boys at the World Economic Forum:

  4. Inspector Supervisors

Marine Cargo Surveyors, Trainers and Inspector Supervisors and shall hold International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA) Certification or equivalent. Any non-compliance shall require prior approval from client.

If you have suitable qualifications, for a donation I’ll point you the right way, and submit your qualifications to my contact.

Me? I get vertigo at about 2 meters, never mind 20.

From the Star – Women Engineers in Oil & Gas

January 29, 2009

Don’t know why people kick up a fuss about women engineers in O&G. Some of the toughest engineers I know are women. And managers. And procurement analysts.

IEM Shout Out – Talk on Wireline Logging in E&P activities

January 28, 2009

This is a shout out for the IEM. My technical division will be having a talk tomorrow entitled ‘Wireline Logging in E&P activities’. It’ll be at 5:30 pm (makan-makan at 5:00) at the IEM , Bangunan Ingenieur, PJ.

My friend, Shafie Jumaat will be giving the presentation. The synopsis of the presentation is:

Electric wireline logging or commonly called logging in the E&P business, is one of the many services required by the oil companies. It is required throughout the cycle of an oil well, from exploration to development, to brownfield and finally to abandonment. It involves conveying a device required for a specific task on a cable that also acts as electrical and communication conduit between the surface and the device that are being sent downhole an oilwell. In general, a logging job can be for the purpose of evaluating the oil well or for enhancing the production of the well itself. In evaluating the oil well, various types of data can be acquired using the many types of devices that have been developed in the 80 years history of this service. Enhancing production of a well may involve mechanical services or the use of explosives in a producing well.

Come all, and get your 2 CPD hours.

Saturday Star 2009-01-24 – Job Opportunities

January 27, 2009

Another week, another scan of the Saturday Star newspaper. Here’s a list of job ads in the paper:

  • Synergy Oil and Gas Engineering is recruiting fresh chemical engineering graduates, or those with around 1 year experience. CVs may be sent to enquiry@synergykl.com.my. It’s also looking for admin execs who can run the invoicing / payroll / accounting as well as be office managers. Come visit us at W-07-01, Subang Square Business Park, Jalan 15/4G, Subang.
  • SGS is looking for a Sampling / PVT engineer, flow assurance engineer (hey, I’m breaking into that market!) and new chem engineers. Send emails to sgs.malaysia@sgs.com, or snail mail to The Human Resources and Admin Division SGS (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd, Unit 10-1, 10th Floor, Bangunan Malaysian Re, No. 17, Lorong Dungun, Damansara Heigths, 50490 KL. Most people confuse SGS with Shell Global Solutions. Not me, I go the other way round. I’ve met SGS before under the guise of their meter certification program. As for being a PVT engineer, my sources tell me that if you have to characterise a hydrocarbon, be prepared to spend a week+ matching the compositional breakdown with the PVT data.
  • Petrofac is looking for a deputy production manager. Sounds like an EMEPMI facilities engineer to me, though I hope the pay is better. Email to vacancy.kl@petrofac.com, or snail mail to Human Resource Department Petrofac (Malaysia-PM304) Limited, Leavel 50, Tower 2, PETRONAS Twin Towers, 50088 KL.
  • Esso is looking for Service Station Dealers. Contact them at Retail Area Manager (Dealership Application) Level 13, Menara ExxonMobil, KLCC, 50088 KL. I’ve never been on Level 13 myself, me being an upstream man and all.

And it’s a short week. If you are interested in finding out what Synergy can do for you, send me a note on this blog entry.

Why don’t companies put a link to their web pages in the papers? Hey, I’m doing you guys a service here, throw some money my way, or I’ll sic Jabba on you.

Sigh, since I have moved with Synergy out of KL, will you patronise Chee Meng in my memory? Or invite me to meetings around Bukit Bintang at lunchtime?
