Lightning strike triggers offshore oil and gas platform explosion in Miri

MIRI: A vent stack at an offshore oil and gas facility here was struck by lightning today, triggering a brief gas line explosion.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said immediate action was taken to close the shut-off valve to control the situation and mitigate further risks.
