PETRONAS Suriname Block 52 may lift Malaysia’s energy role

KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Bhd’s (Petronas) oil exploration activities at offshore Block 52 in Suriname could position Malaysia within a globally significant emerging energy corridor, strengthening its role in the international upstream oil and gas sector.

According to a Reuters report on Thursday, the national oil company is exploring for oil at the block, which was declared commercially viable for natural gas development last November following major discoveries in the area, said.
