Progress on carbon capture project in joint Malaysia Vietnam area

Malaysian operator Hibiscus Petroleum is progressing a planned carbon, capture and storage project at its stronghold oil and gas asset in the PM3 shared offshore area between Malaysia and Vietnam.

The company has now awarded a contract to Malaysia’s Reservoir Link Energy for a third-party subsurface review and technical assurance on a CCS study, and is understood to be targeting the first injection of carbon dioxide into a selected offshore reservoir in the fourth quarter of 2028.
