Tan Sri Shamsul Azhar Abas has hinted that he may not stay long at Petronas under its new succession policy after pushing through reforms to distance itself as the country’s piggy bank in the last two years he has been its CEO.
“I’ve identified my successor and I’m ready to leave any time. Even tomorrow.
“I don’t believe in self-preservation,” Shamsul told Financial Times (FT) in an interview published today.
Petronas’ chief executive and board serve at the pleasure of the prime minister who have over the years tapped into the state oil firm’s funds to build their dream projects and bail out their mistakes.
…

Ungrateful son of a bitch. I as a Malaysian taxpayer accept your resignation. No body is special and everybody is expendable. Except P. Ramlee, until no actor/singer/comedian in Malaysia is a good as him.
What to expect when you are state owned? And don’t you think they have enough compensation already?
Unlike any other private entity, Petronas suppose to help people.
Not everything can make profit.
If corporations like TNB for instance have the intention to make lots of profit, they don’t need to supply electricity to kampung2 and out of reach places. The infrastructure cost is too high for a low or no return. Same goes for Petronas.
That millions of barrels of oil you dug up belong to all Malaysians. Just because you manage it don’t make it yours. Self preservation my ass
cooldown matey.
it means he has “hantam kau kau” all the money, and nothing is left. he is prepared to chau tomorrow.
no la. this is their strategy actually. najib wanted to bring wan zul in but at the time he was too young to be president, so, he brought in shamsul. now that wan zul has come of age, shamsul can step down.
p.s. doesnt it feel odd the new structure has 4 vps and one of the vp is the coo?
