The Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM) has been around for about 25 years, though many lay people do not know about it. It is basically a society for people who work with materials – metals, rubber, polymers, almost anything – where they can share information and knowledge, receive training, and do some networking.
Its members are not exclusively engineers; there are academicians, technicians, skilled workers such as welders, blasters and painters, even lawyers and bankers. What all these people have in common is an interest in materials and how they work.
