Malaysia Wimax – Price List

I had a previous article mentioning that Wimax is here in Malaysia. Now for the numbers that matter to your wallet:

Assuming you want a Personal account:

  • P1 W1MAX 1200 (1.2 Mbps): RM99 (12 month contract) or RM89 (24 month)
  • P1 W1MAX 2400 (2.4 Mbps): RM229 (12 month contract) or RM199 (24 month)
  • Nationwide Access: RM10 (waived, but think about it, what nationwide access?)
  • and they have 400 kbps and 700 kbps packages at their website.

Charges:

  • Modem: RM999  (waived, cool!)
  • Registration: RM100
  • Activation: RM10
  • Stamp duty: RM10
  • Installation fee: RM80 (optional, I don’t know whether it’s worth taking up or not)

To reiterate my previous comment:

My opinion? This roll out is on the bleeding edge. Only apply if you want to be the first on the block to have it. Me, wait till TM comes up with Wimax, then you have national pride on the line. In the meantime, use unlimited 3G.

The company providing the service is P1.

The Nationwide Access part is basically allowing you to take the Wimax modem anywhere so you may access your account from their expanded coverage areas in future. Of course, if you’re not thinking about sharing the connection you’ll wait for the USB modem.

If you didn’t know, your account is already preset into the modem therefore you don’t have to configure anything. Just plug and play. So forget about the Installation. Just plug the wires in, power and to your computer – tada! 🙂

I’m willing to tryout Wimax for at least a year because I’d like to see how it’s service (speed, reliability and customer service) trumps TM. For a SOHO, every time your Internet experience is disrupted your business is affected. So good bye TM – for me.

Danny: Let us know on your blog how it turns out. I’m interested to know who owns P1 (and U-Mobile as well). All the best.

Green Packet Berhad is the owner of P1. 🙂
