Kedah government will revive the Yan Petroleum Industrial Zone (Zipy) which was shelved after Pakatan Rakyat came into power in 2008, said Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir.

He announced that Merapoh Resources Corp Sdn Bhd’s oil refinery and pipeline project would be developed on a bigger scale compared to when it was first proposed to the Barisan Nasional-led state government in 2007.

The state government is expected to rake in more than 400 millions of ringgit in profit from the proposed project, which Pakatan Rakyat changed its name to Sungai Limau Hydrocarbon Hub (Sulihh) when it was in power.

The US$7bil Transpeninsular Pipeline (TPP) project that was to take off nearly two years ago may yet become a reality as a Chinese party is said to be keen to take a stake in the project with a shareholding agreement expected to be signed as early as tomorrow.
