Turkmenistan and Malaysia discuss oil and gas co-op with Petronas at center

OneSubsea equipment to prolong life of two deepwater projects off Malaysia

Under the contracts defined as sizeable, SLB OneSubsea will deliver comprehensive subsea production systems (SPS) for the Alum, Bemban, and Permai deepwater gas fields located in Block H and the Kikeh field, Malaysia’s first deepwater oil project. 

The scope covers horizontal subsea trees, umbilicals, control systems, and associated services.

The contracts are said to build on a 20-year collaboration between the two companies.

PJBumi Unit Signs Well Maintenance Deal With Indonesian Oil And Gas Operator

KUALA LUMPUR, PJBumi Bhd’s 90%-owned subsidiary, PT Indodrill Bumi Perkasa, has entered into a two-year umbrella agreement to provide oil and gas (O&G) well maintenance services to Indonesian operator KSO PT Pertamina-PT Petro Papua Mogoi Wasian.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday, PJBumi said the agreement, signed on Oct 24, marks a significant step in strengthening its presence in Indonesia’s upstream O&G sector. The contract runs until Oct 23, 2027.


Sabah readies next wave of O&G gains under Petronas collaboration agreement

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s oil and gas returns have surged in recent years, with more revenue streams on the way thanks to new asset acquisitions in the pipeline.

SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd CEO Dionysia Kibat said plans drawn up to expand the company’s portfolio will hopefully be concluded by next year.

“We are just ‘setahun jagung’ — that is to say, still young. So the firm still has a lot of assets and resources to acquire,” she told FMT.

“As we speak now, we are also looking at a few more acquisitions in both upstream and downstream sectors. We hope that we can finalise it, if possible, within the next few months either by the end of the year or early next year, at the latest.”

Viridien to Shed More Light on Malaysia’s Offshore Oil and Gas Potential

The insights generated will provide explorers with a competitive advantage by better informing their licensing and investment decisions, according to Viridien.

The 38,000 sq km study is scheduled for delivery in November 2025.


Dark ship appears to transfer sanctioned Russian LNG off Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: A dark tanker carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from a US-sanctioned Russian export plant has positioned itself for a rare open-water fuel transfer off the coast of Malaysia, satellite images show, in a demonstration of the increasingly circuitous routes taken by Moscow to evade Western restrictions.

The Perle, which was sanctioned by the US earlier this year, is currently anchored parallel to another vessel approximately 90km east of the Malaysian peninsula, according to Sentinel-2 satellite images taken Oct 18 and earlier ship-tracking data.


Thirty-six Putra Heights residents take Petronas Gas, govt, developers to court over gas explosion

RINA Wins FEED Contract for Petronas’ Flagship CCS Project in Malaysia

Italian classification and marine engineering consultancy RINA has secured a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract by Petronas CCS Ventures (PCCSV) for the Southern Onshore Facilities of Malaysia’s flagship carbon capture and storage (CCS) project.

The award follows the successful completion of pre-FEED services in 2024. Under the contract, RINA will advance engineering for the Southern onshore CO2 receiving terminal in Peninsular Malaysia, designed to receive carbon dioxide from multiple domestic and international industrial emitters before transporting it for offshore geological storage.
