Pembina Pipeline to supply LNG to Malaysia’s PETRONAS for 20 years

Canadian oil and gas company Pembina Pipeline said on Wednesday it will supply 1.0 million tons per annum of liquefied natural gas to Malaysia’s PETRONAS for 20 years from its Cedar LNG project.

The deal marks a key milestone for the $4 billion Cedar LNG project and strengthens Canada’s push to become a global LNG supplier to Asia.

The company said it will give PETRONAS access to an additional natural gas export outlet for its Canadian upstream investment, while providing Pembina with a stable, long-term revenue stream.


Chevron and Petronas win new exploration blocks offshore Suriname

Suriname market regulator Staatsolie has awarded a pair of new production sharing contracts in the country’s shallow-water play to US supermajor Chevron and Malaysian state-controlled oil company Petronas.

The contracts were signed following a competitive bid round for shallow-water acreage held in June 2025, and just days away from the launching of a new open-door offering featuring deepwater tracts that are mostly located in the eastern portion of the Guyana-Suriname basin that borders French Guiana.

Petronas will operate Block 9 with a 30% stake and will partner Staatsolie’s affiliate Paradise Oil Company on 30%, while Chevron and QatarEnergy will hold 20% each.


Eni and Petronas to Establish Company in Indonesia and Malaysia

Eni and Petronas have signed a binding agreement to establish a new satellite company through the business combination of their upstream assets in Indonesia and Malaysia.

The signing follows a framework agreement signed in June 2025.

The independent company (NewCo) under equal ownership will manage 19 assets in total – 14 in Indonesia and five in Malaysia – and will operate as a financially self-sufficient entity with an investment plan in excess of $15 billion over the next five years.


Petronas and Dubai govt-owned Dragon Oil ink MOU for oil and gas exploration

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 31): Petroliam Nasional Bhd’s (Petronas) exploration and production arm have agreed to work with Dubai-government-owned Dragon Oil (International) Ltd to identify potential ventures in international exploration and production of oil and gas.

According to a statement, the memorandum of understanding was signed on Friday via Petronas’ wholly-owned subsidiary Petronas Carigali International Ventures Sdn Bhd.

Under the contracts defined as sizeable, SLB OneSubsea will deliver comprehensive subsea production systems (SPS) for the Alum, Bemban, and Permai deepwater gas fields located in Block H and the Kikeh field, Malaysia’s first deepwater oil project. 

The scope covers horizontal subsea trees, umbilicals, control systems, and associated services.

The contracts are said to build on a 20-year collaboration between the two companies.

PJBumi Unit Signs Well Maintenance Deal With Indonesian Oil And Gas Operator

KUALA LUMPUR, PJBumi Bhd’s 90%-owned subsidiary, PT Indodrill Bumi Perkasa, has entered into a two-year umbrella agreement to provide oil and gas (O&G) well maintenance services to Indonesian operator KSO PT Pertamina-PT Petro Papua Mogoi Wasian.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday, PJBumi said the agreement, signed on Oct 24, marks a significant step in strengthening its presence in Indonesia’s upstream O&G sector. The contract runs until Oct 23, 2027.


Sabah readies next wave of O&G gains under Petronas collaboration agreement

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s oil and gas returns have surged in recent years, with more revenue streams on the way thanks to new asset acquisitions in the pipeline.

SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd CEO Dionysia Kibat said plans drawn up to expand the company’s portfolio will hopefully be concluded by next year.

“We are just ‘setahun jagung’ — that is to say, still young. So the firm still has a lot of assets and resources to acquire,” she told FMT.

“As we speak now, we are also looking at a few more acquisitions in both upstream and downstream sectors. We hope that we can finalise it, if possible, within the next few months either by the end of the year or early next year, at the latest.”
