Woodside Inks 15-Year LNG Supply Deal with PETRONAS

Woodside Energy has signed a sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Petronas for the supply of 1 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Malaysia from 2028 for a period of 15 years.

The milestone marks the successful conversion of the non-binding Heads of Agreement (HOA) signed in June 2025 into a binding commitment.


MISC wins PETRONAS contract to supply floating production unit for Brunei project

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 8): MISC Bhd has secured a contract from PETRONAS Carigali Brunei Ltd to lease, operate and maintain a floating production unit for a natural gas project in Brunei.

In a filing with the bourse, MISC said the mobile offshore platform is expected to begin operations in the first half of 2029. PETRONAS is a major shareholder of MISC and the holding company for PETRONAS Carigali Brunei.


PSP eyes Melaka bunkering hub post-listing

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 4): PSP Energy Bhd is expanding its presence along key maritime routes with a new bunkering hub at Tanjung Bruas Port in Melaka following its listing on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia on Thursday.

The fuel and lubricant trader and distributor’s stock opened unchanged at 16 sen. It last traded at 15.5 sen, down 3.13 per cent from its initial public offering price.


Housing minister: 18 families return to new homes after Putra Heights gas blast

SUBANG JAYA, Dec 4 — Eighteen families affected by the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights on April 1 can finally breathe a sigh of relief as their homes in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru have now been repaired and rebuilt.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the rehabilitation project, undertaken by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB), involved an allocation of RM4.85 million from the National Housing Disaster Trust Fund.


PETRONAS and SK Earthon bolster Indonesian presence with oil block wins

The Serpang and Binaiya blocks were secured through a competitive bidding process in the second round of the Indonesia Petroleum Bid Round 2024, organized by the Indonesian government. 

Situated in what is described as one of Indonesia’s most promising hydrocarbon regions offshore in northeast Java, the Serpang block covers around 8,498 square kilometers. Petronas is the operator with a 51% stake, INPEX holds a 35% interest, and SK Earthon a 14% stake in the block.


PTTEP to invest $33 billion on new and existing projects

Thailand’s national upstream company PTTEP is looking to invest more than $33 billion over the next five years, a plan based on three main strategies: Driving value, decarbonisation and diversification.

PTTEP said these strategies aim to drive and enhance the value of its core E&P business, while working toward the goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.


ENEOS secures 50-year tenure at Malaysian block with new contract extension

The 10-year extension will enable ENEOS and its partners to remain at block SK10 from 2028 to 2038. The PSC was awarded to ENEOS Xplora Malaysia and PETRONAS Carigali back in 1987, with the former being the operator. 

Following the discovery of the Helang field in 1990, the first production started in 2003. Since then, Xplora Malaysia has steadily enhanced output through a series of development activities, which led to gas production from the Layang and Beryl fields in 2017 and 2018, respectively. 


DOSM: Crude oil, condensate and natural gas output rise 7.9% and 11.8% in 3Q2025

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 3): Malaysia’s crude oil, condensate and natural gas production rose in the third quarter of 2025 (3Q2025), reaching 45.1 million barrels and 737.0 billion cubic feet respectively, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

Chief statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin attributed the increase to a 7.0% rise in crude oil output in 3Q2025, following four consecutive quarters of decline, compared with a 2.2% drop in the previous quarter.


PETRONAS makes Guyana debut, TotalEnergies operates

Malaysian energy giant Petronas has made its maiden foray into global upstream hotspot Guyana, securing a 25% partnership interest in the newly awarded offshore Block S4 — TotalEnergies’ first operated asset in the South American nation.

Operator French supermajor TotalEnergies and co-venturers QatarEnergy and Petronas on Tuesday signed a production sharing agreement (PSA) for Block S4 with Guyana’s Ministry of National Resources.
