Petronas going large offshore Malaysia

Dateline 2025-11-16, Upstream Online:

Malaysia’s national upstream company Petronas Carigali is lining up more exploration drilling targets for as early as 2026, with several newly revealed prospects offshore Peninsular Malaysia on its radar.

The operator is preparing this week to commence a marine geohazards survey over four prospects in the South China Sea off the coast of Terengganu. The proposed wildcats are Geranium-1, Balsam-1, Palas Deep and Guntong Deep, according to Malaysia’s Marine Department (Jabatan Laut). The survey, which will be performed by the Malaysia-flagged multi-purpose vessel MW Cassandra No 5, is scheduled for completion on 19 December.
