Malaysians have the responsibility to keep looking for new opportunities for progress that would make their ancestors proud and provide their grandchildren with a flourishing country they call home.
In stating this, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said in this period of growth and development, the nation must not forget to look back to what led the country to where it is today.
“Over 60 years ago, the nation fought for its independence, an endeavour that would not have been accomplished but for the cooperative support of the entire country.
“Today, the need of a union between Malaysians that transcends race, religion and even gender has not dwindled but perhaps become even more crucial. If we are to effectively pursue the development of our country, we must not forget the values that brought us here today,” she said in her National Day message yesterday.
