Getting Labuan folk ready for oil, gas boom

Dateline 2012-08-03:

Plants, pipes and complexes are not the only things that need to be prepared as the island gears itself to be a leading oil and gas hub in Asia.

The 80,000 people on the island too need to be ready for the ambitious plan to harness the lucrative industry that had seen investments pouring in over the years.

Opportunities are bound to come with the recent announcements of new oil field discoveries off Sabah, as well as major Petronas projects on the cards, amounting to RM45 billion (S$18.2 billion) in the years to come.

Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin recently visited the island and met with the business community to assert the government’s plan to turn it into a leading oil and gas hub.

North Malay Basin Block PM301 new gas project at medan kamelia – why gas goes to Kerteh not to Kelantan…coz its only about 150km from kelantan offshore..??

I thought Kamelia will be tie-in to Lawit? (which already have a launcher all the way to TCOT )

Thus it is more viable to send with exsting infra (like what wata said) rather than to have new one..

  3. mrp says:

Erk, maybe Onshore Slug Catcher will be more accurate rather that TCOT. If i am not mistaken, we need to understand and appreciate the pipeline networking then might be we understand why the gas will be landing on Tganu rather than Kelantan.. The lines are not individual.

Do advise me on this, North Malay Basin Block PM301 is under Kelantan or Tganu? or both?
