Wimax is on a trial basis in KL. You can get more info here. The company providing the service is P1, and the service is call P1 W1MAX. Someone told me the Internet is making bad spellers, and I would tend to agree 🙂
My opinion? This roll out is on the bleeding edge. Only apply if you want to be the first on the block to have it. Me, wait till TM comes up with Wimax, then you have national pride on the line. In the meantime, use unlimited 3G.

How long is this trial planned for ? Sounds cool…first step…
Soha: I think the trial is meant to progress to a paid subscription. My house is not in a covered area (circles 25km across?) so I didn’t want to fill out the form.
icic…thats cool…cant wait for it to expand!!! wanna ask you, does malaysia exercise control over the internet?
If you mean control as in blocked sites, no it doesn’t. This issue was brought up during the establishment of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), and Internet freedom was bandied as one of its principles.
Thanks for the info!!! But, can government bodies/broadband providers track the movement based on IP addresses. I.e. they can trace if you are illegally downloading something…
nice blog and good PR
Soha: Sure they can track someone, just look up the username and password they used to logon. The IP address reinforces the case, but would probably be useful only if you have purchased that IP address, i.e. static IP.
I’d be more worried about big brother tracking my movements via cellphone (and currency notes… if I were more paranoid).
cellphone ok….how can they do it via currency notes?
Soha: visit my favourite rumour buster site, Snopes.com. For an article on rumour that paper money is trackable, see http://www.snopes.com/business/money/strip.asp. BTW, I don’t believe they do 🙂
Thanks for the info….but it seems too far-fetched and too much hassle isn’t it.
